§ 01Overview

What the DS-2CE16H8T-IT5F is

The Hikvision DS-2CE16H8T-IT5F is a 5 MP Turbo HD analog bullet, the practical way to lift an existing coax-cabled system to high definition without pulling new network cable.

It sends a 2560 x 1944 image down the same coax you already have, and it switches between four output formats, TVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS, so it works with almost any HD analog or older DVR rather than tying you to one brand.

A 130 dB Wide Dynamic Range and ultra-low-light sensor keep the picture readable where bright sky meets a shaded yard.

Night cover is its strong point for the price.

EXIR Smart IR reaches up to 80 m and spreads the infrared evenly to avoid the hot centre and dark edges of older infrared bullets; Smart IR also pulls back the light on close objects so they are not washed out.

The image at night is black and white under infrared, as expected for an infrared bullet.

The 3.6 mm fixed lens gives roughly a 78-degree view that suits a driveway, a yard or a building face; 6, 8 and 12 mm versions exist for narrower, longer views.

Two points to plan around.

First, this is an analog camera, so it connects to a DVR over coax and is powered by a local 12 VDC supply; it does not use PoE or plug into an IP NVR.

Second, Up-the-Coax control lets you reach the on-screen menu from a supporting DVR, so you set the camera without a separate cable.

The metal body is IP67 against dust and water, which suits eaves, walls and open yards.

Pair it with a Hikvision 8 MP Turbo HD DVR so the recorder can take the full 5 MP image.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CE16H8T-IT5F

Upgrade without rewiring

It runs a 5 MP image over the coax you already have, so you lift an old analog system to high definition without pulling network cable.

Works with almost any DVR

TVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS output means it suits HD analog and older recorders alike, rather than locking you to one brand.

Long, even night vision

EXIR Smart IR reaches up to 80 m and spreads light evenly, so the edges of the scene are lit and close objects are not washed out.

Affordable and tough

A 130 dB WDR image in an IP67 metal body at a low price makes it an easy choice for budget-led upgrades.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Analog system upgrades

Replace ageing standard-definition cameras on existing coax with a 5 MP image and no new cabling.

Long driveways and yards

Up to 80 m of even infrared covers a long approach or a large yard after dark.

Building faces and perimeters

The 3.6 mm lens gives a broad view of a wall or boundary, with WDR for bright-against-shade scenes.

Budget-led sites

A low-cost way to add high-definition outdoor cover where an IP system is not justified.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

In the box

Camera, mounting template and screw pack, and the quick start guide. A DVR, coax cabling and a 12 VDC power supply are bought separately.

02

Mounting

Surface-mount the bullet to a wall or eave and angle it along the view you want. The metal sunshield and IP67 body suit exposed positions.

03

Wiring and power

Run coax back to the DVR for video and a 12 VDC supply for power; a single combined power-and-video coax run is common on analog sites. Set the output format to match the DVR.

04

Setup tips

Choose TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS to match your recorder, use Up-the-Coax control to reach the menu from a supporting DVR, and aim the infrared away from nearby walls to avoid glare.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CE16H8T-IT5F

Q.01

Can the DS-2CE16H8T-IT5F use my existing coax cable?

Yes. That is the point of it. It is a Turbo HD analog camera, so it sends a 5 MP image down the same coax an older analog system already uses, which lets you upgrade to high definition without pulling new network cable.
Q.02

What is the 4-in-1 feature?

The camera can output in four formats, TVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS, and you select the one your recorder uses. That means it works with almost any HD analog DVR or an older CVBS recorder, rather than locking you to a single brand.
Q.03

Does it connect to an NVR or use PoE?

No. This is an analog camera, so it connects to a DVR over coax and is powered by a local 12 VDC supply. It does not use PoE and does not plug into an IP NVR. Use a Hikvision Turbo HD DVR such as the iDS-7208HTHI-M2/S with it.
Q.04

How far does the night vision reach, and is it colour?

EXIR Smart IR reaches up to 80 metres and spreads the light evenly across the scene. The night image is black and white under infrared, as expected for an infrared bullet, and Smart IR dims close objects so they are not overexposed.
Q.05

What does the 3.6 mm lens cover?

The 3.6 mm fixed lens gives roughly a 78-degree horizontal view, a good general width for a driveway, a yard or a building face. For a narrower, longer reach, 6, 8 and 12 mm versions of this camera are available.
Q.06

Do I need a special DVR for the full 5 MP?

Yes. Use a DVR that records at 5 MP, such as a Hikvision 8 MP Turbo HD model. An older recorder may down-sample the image to its own maximum, so the recorder sets the resolution you actually keep.
Q.07

Can I adjust the camera settings remotely?

Yes, where the DVR supports it. Up-the-Coax control lets you open the camera's on-screen menu and change settings through the same coax cable, so you do not need to run a separate control wire.
Q.08

Is it suitable for outdoors?

Yes. The metal body is rated IP67 against dust and water, with an operating range down to -40 degrees C, so it handles eaves, walls and open yards across Australian conditions.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Record it on a Turbo HD DVR

Connect it to a Hikvision 8 MP Turbo HD recorder such as the iDS-7208HTHI-M2/S, which takes the full 5 MP image, then add a surveillance drive like the 6 TB drive for continuous footage.

02

Power and cabling

Use a 12 VDC supply at the camera and your existing coax back to the DVR. There is no PoE on an analog camera, so plan a local power source at each position.

03

Add matching analog cameras

Build out the system with more Turbo HD cameras on the same DVR so every channel records at the same 5 MP standard.
