01Overview

What the DS-2CD6425G1 is

The Hikvision DS-2CD6425G1 is a 2MP covert pinhole network camera designed for situations where surveillance needs to be discreet. Instead of a single visible unit, it splits into a small cylindrical sensor head connected by a 2m cable to the main body, letting the lens peek through a tiny opening in a wall, ceiling, panel or retail fixture while the processing unit is concealed out of sight.

It records Full HD 1080p in real time on a 1/2.8 inch sensor, with enough detail to capture faces and interactions in offices, reception areas and small rooms. The 3.7mm fixed lens gives a natural field of view of about 75.5 degrees horizontally, and 120dB true WDR with 3D digital noise reduction keeps images clear in backlit doorways and lower light. Efficient H.265+ encoding reduces bandwidth and storage, and a built-in microSD slot supports up to 256GB for local recording or redundancy.

Power and data run over a single PoE network cable for a tidy install, and the camera works with standard Hikvision NVRs and ONVIF systems. This is an indoor covert model, so it does not include infrared illumination or a built-in microphone and speaker; it provides line-level audio in and out terminals if you wish to connect external audio devices. It pairs well with a PoE NVR such as the DS-7608NI-I2/8P.

04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-2CD6425G1

Truly discreet monitoring

A separated pinhole sensor head hides the lens while the body stays concealed nearby for low-profile coverage.

Clear Full HD detail

A 2MP sensor with 120dB WDR captures faces and interactions clearly, even in backlit doorways.

Flexible, tidy install

A 2m sensor cable and single PoE connection make hidden placement and wiring straightforward.

Efficient recording

H.265+ encoding and microSD support keep bandwidth and storage low for continuous indoor recording.

05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Offices and receptions

Monitor entrances, desks and waiting areas discreetly without an obtrusive camera on show.

Retail counters

Keep a low-profile view over till points and service counters for loss prevention.

ATMs and kiosks

Conceal the lens within a fascia or panel to watch self-service points up close.

Sensitive interiors

Provide unobtrusive coverage in areas where a visible camera would be intrusive or at risk of tampering.

06Setup

Installation & setup

  1. Plan the concealment

Choose where the small sensor head will peek through a wall, panel or fixture, and where the body will hide within the 2m cable reach.

  2. Fit the sensor head

Mount the cylindrical sensor through the prepared opening so only the pinhole lens is visible.

  3. Connect over PoE

Run a single Cat6 cable from the main body to a PoE NVR or switch for power and data.

  4. Frame and focus

Adjust the view on screen, confirm the 75.5 degree field covers the target area, and check image clarity in the room's lighting.

08Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CD6425G1

Q.01

What is a covert pinhole camera used for?
It provides discreet surveillance where a visible camera is not wanted. The tiny lens can be hidden in a wall, panel or fixture so monitoring stays low profile in offices, receptions and retail spaces.
Q.02

Why does it come in two separate parts?
The sensor head is separated from the main body by a 2m cable. This lets you place just the small lens at the viewing point while the larger electronics are concealed nearby, which makes hidden installs much easier.
Q.03

Does it have night vision or built-in IR?
No, this is an indoor covert model without built-in infrared. It relies on existing room lighting, so for dark areas you should ensure some ambient light is present.
Q.04

Can it record sound?
It does not have a built-in microphone or speaker. It provides line-level audio input and output terminals, so you can connect an external microphone or speaker if audio is required and permitted.
Q.05

What is the field of view with the 3.7mm lens?
About 75.5 degrees horizontally, which suits small to medium indoor spaces such as offices, reception desks, doorways and rooms without heavy distortion.
Q.06

How is it powered and connected?
It is a PoE camera, so a single network cable carries both power and data to a PoE NVR or switch, keeping the discreet installation tidy.
Q.07

How much can it store on board?
It has a microSD slot that supports cards up to 256GB for local recording or as backup alongside an NVR.
Q.08

Which recorders does it work with?
It works with standard Hikvision NVRs over PoE, such as the DS-7608NI-I2/8P, and with ONVIF-compatible systems.
