§ 01Overview

What the HIK-2CD4A25IZHS8 is

The Hikvision DS-2CD4A25FWD-IZHS8 is a 2 MP Lightfighter bullet built for two things: difficult light and distance.

Lightfighter is Hikvision's high-dynamic-range technology, and with 140 dB true Wide Dynamic Range this camera keeps clear, colour detail in scenes that defeat a standard camera, such as a doorway against bright sky, a tunnel mouth, or a sunlit forecourt with deep shadow.

A 1080p sensor captures smooth video at up to 60 fps, so fast-moving subjects stay sharp.

The long-range 8 to 32 mm motorised lens sets this model apart from a standard bullet.

It is a telephoto varifocal, adjusted remotely from the recorder, that lets one camera reach well down a car park, perimeter or approach road and still pull useful detail.

EXIR infrared provides long-range night vision, and as with any infrared camera the image is black and white in the dark rather than colour.

On-board smart analytics cover line crossing, intrusion, area entering and leaving, object left and removed, scene change, audio surge and loss, face detection and object counting, so the camera can flag events rather than just record them.

A few honest notes.

Lightfighter is about dynamic range, not 24/7 colour at night like ColorVu, and the exact infrared distance depends on the long 8 to 32 mm lens, so aim and test it for your scene.

The camera has audio and alarm inputs and outputs for integration, but no built-in microphone, so audio needs an external mic.

It runs on standard PoE or 12 VDC and records to a Hikvision NVR or a micro SD card, in an IP67 weatherproof metal housing made for exposed, long-range positions.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the HIK-2CD4A25IZHS8

Beats heavy backlight

Lightfighter and 140 dB true WDR keep colour detail where bright sky, glass or tunnel light would wash out an ordinary camera.

Reaches down the scene

A long 8 to 32 mm motorised lens lets one camera cover and identify targets well down a car park, road or perimeter.

Smart event detection

Line crossing, intrusion, object counting and face detection let the camera flag events, not just record them.

Flexible and rugged

Remote zoom and focus, PoE or 12 VDC power and an IP67 metal body make it easy to commission and tough enough for exposed sites.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Long car parks and driveways

One camera covers a long bay or approach and zooms in for plate and face detail at distance.

Perimeters and fence lines

Reach down a boundary with the telephoto lens and use line-crossing and intrusion rules to flag entry.

Backlit entrances and tunnels

Hold colour detail where bright sky behind a doorway or a tunnel mouth defeats a standard camera.

Industrial and logistics yards

Detailed, long-range monitoring of gates, loading approaches and storage areas in mixed light.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

In the box

Lightfighter bullet camera, mounting base and the printed guide. A pole or wall bracket and a junction box are selected to suit the surface and bought separately.

02

Power and cabling

Run a single network cable for standard PoE, or use a 12 VDC supply. Keep the Ethernet run within standard limits or add a media converter for long distances.

03

Mounting

Fix it high on a solid wall or pole with a clear, steady line of sight, because at the long end of the 8 to 32 mm zoom any sway is magnified.

04

Setup

Set the motorised zoom and focus from the recorder, configure the smart analytics and alarm I/O, and aim the EXIR infrared for the distance you most need at night.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the HIK-2CD4A25IZHS8

Q.01

What is Lightfighter and how is it different from ColorVu?

Lightfighter is Hikvision's high-dynamic-range technology, with 140 dB WDR to keep colour detail in heavy backlight such as a bright doorway or tunnel mouth. It is not the same as ColorVu: it is about dynamic range, not 24/7 full-colour night video, so at night under infrared the picture is black and white.
Q.02

Why the 8 to 32 mm lens?

The long 8 to 32 mm motorised lens is a telephoto varifocal that lets one camera reach well down a car park, perimeter or approach road and still capture useful detail. You set the zoom and focus remotely from the recorder, so there is no second trip to the camera.
Q.03

How far does it see at night?

It uses long-range EXIR infrared, and the exact distance depends on the zoom setting of the 8 to 32 mm lens. Because it is a long telephoto, aim and test the camera on your actual scene at night, and remember the IR image is black and white.
Q.04

Does it have a built-in microphone?

No. It has audio input and output connections so you can add an external microphone, plus alarm input and output for integration, but there is no microphone built into the camera itself.
Q.05

Can it detect people and reduce false alarms?

It runs smart analytics including line crossing, intrusion, area entering and leaving, object left and removed, scene change, face detection and object counting. These are the Lightfighter generation's smart events; set and test the rules to suit your scene rather than expecting AcuSense-style target classification.
Q.06

How is it powered and recorded?

It runs on standard PoE or 12 VDC, so a single network cable can power it, and records to a Hikvision NVR or a micro SD card inside the camera. The IP67 metal body suits exposed outdoor positions.
Q.07

Where does this camera suit best?

It is at its best on long, high-contrast scenes: a long car park or driveway, a perimeter fence line, a loading approach, or any spot where bright backlight and distance both work against a standard camera.
