§ 01Overview

What the DHI-NVR5432-16P-AI/ANZ is

The Dahua DHI-NVR5432-16P-AI/ANZ is a Pro-series 32-channel recorder in a 1.5U chassis, built for larger commercial and multi-area sites that need high channel count, high resolution and plenty of storage. Sixteen of its channels have built-in PoE so cameras connect over single cables, and the remaining channels take cameras from your network switches, up to 32 IP cameras in total at resolutions as high as 32MP.

It runs Dahua's recorder-side WizSense AI — face detection and recognition on two channels, perimeter protection on four channels and SMD Plus on eight channels — and supports a rich set of camera-side analytics including video metadata, ANPR, people counting and stereo analysis when used with capable WizSense cameras. With AI off it handles 384 Mbps of incoming bandwidth; enabling AI features reduces usable bandwidth to around 200 Mbps, so plan camera count and bitrates against the mode you will run. Dual HDMI and dual VGA outputs with 4K display let you spread cameras across several screens.

It has four SATA bays, each taking a surveillance drive up to 16TB for up to 64TB total, plus an eSATA port, and it is supplied without drives so you can plan capacity to suit your retention. The sixteen PoE ports share a 130 W budget (25.5 W per port, with ePoE for long cable runs).

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DHI-NVR5432-16P-AI/ANZ

High channel count and resolution

Thirty-two channels and support for cameras up to 32MP suit a large or detailed camera estate that a Lite-series NVR would outgrow.

Sixteen PoE ports plus network channels

Power up to sixteen cameras directly and add the rest from your switches, for flexible cabling across a bigger site.

Storage that scales

Four SATA bays up to 16TB each (up to 64TB) plus eSATA give the capacity and retention a busy 32-channel system needs.

AI and multi-screen control

Recorder-side face, perimeter and SMD Plus analytics plus dual HDMI and dual VGA outputs make it suited to a staffed monitoring position.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Larger commercial sites

Centralise up to 32 cameras across a building, warehouse or yard on one Pro recorder with multi-screen output.

Multi-building and campus

Aggregate cameras from several switches and buildings into a single 32-channel unit.

High-resolution systems

Run high-megapixel cameras up to 32MP with the bandwidth and storage headroom a Lite NVR does not have.

Sites that need long retention

Fill four bays with high-capacity drives for weeks of recording across many channels.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One DHI-NVR5432-16P-AI/ANZ 1.5U recorder, power lead and mouse. Hard drives, network switches, cameras and monitors are not included.

02

Installation requirements

Fit surveillance-grade SATA drives across the four bays to suit your retention, run Cat5e or Cat6 from the sixteen PoE ports to those cameras and connect the rest through managed PoE switches, then connect monitors over HDMI/VGA and the network for remote access and add it to DMSS. Plan camera bitrates against the AI-on bandwidth limit; a UPS is recommended on a system this size. Professional installation is recommended.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DHI-NVR5432-16P-AI/ANZ

Q.01

Does the NVR5432-16P come with hard drives?

No. It is supplied without drives so you can plan capacity to suit the site. It has four SATA bays, each taking a surveillance-grade drive up to 16TB for up to 64TB in total, plus an eSATA port for further expansion.
Q.02

How many cameras and what resolution can it handle?

It records up to 32 IP channels at resolutions up to 32MP. Sixteen channels have built-in PoE; the rest connect through your network switches. With AI off it handles 384 Mbps of incoming bandwidth, dropping to around 200 Mbps with AI features running, so plan camera count and bitrates against the mode you will use.
Q.03

Do all 32 channels have PoE?

No. The recorder has sixteen built-in PoE ports, so up to sixteen cameras can be powered directly from the unit. The remaining channels connect over your network through separate PoE switches, which is normal for a 32-channel system spread across a site.
Q.04

What AI features does the recorder provide?

On board it offers face detection and recognition on two channels, perimeter protection on four channels and SMD Plus on eight channels to filter people and vehicles from other motion. With capable WizSense cameras it also supports camera-side analytics such as video metadata, ANPR, people counting and stereo analysis.
Q.05

How many screens can it drive?

It has dual HDMI and dual VGA outputs with 4K display support, so you can spread cameras across several monitors rather than crowding everything onto one screen.
Q.06

How is this different from the NVR5432-AI without PoE?

This 16P model has sixteen built-in PoE ports so up to sixteen cameras power directly from the recorder. The plain NVR5432-AI has the same 32 channels, storage and AI but no built-in PoE, so every camera connects through external switches. Choose this 16P version if you want some cameras powered directly, or the no-PoE version if all cameras already run from managed switches.
Q.07

Can I view it on my phone?

Yes. Connect the NVR to your router and add it to the free Dahua DMSS app to watch live and play back recordings from a phone or tablet, at home or away.
Q.08

Is this the Australian model?

Yes. The /ANZ suffix indicates Australia and New Zealand firmware, and it is supplied as genuine Australian Dahua stock with local warranty and support.
