The Hikvision DS-2DF8442IXG1-ELWY is a 4 MP DarkFighter PTZ speed dome made for the longest-range night surveillance, where you need to see a person or a vehicle hundreds of metres away in the dark.
A 1/1.8" sensor records 2688 x 1520 video, the 42x optical zoom (6 to 250 mm) reaches far down a perimeter or roadway, and a powerful infrared array lights the scene up to 400 m, with Smart IR pulling the light back on close objects so they are not washed out.
The night image under infrared is black and white, as expected for an IR camera; by day, DarkFighter and 150 dB WDR keep colour and detail in harsh light.
Like the rest of this Ultra range, the value is in the smart movement.
On-camera deep learning classifies people and vehicles, so auto-tracking 3.0 locks onto a target and follows it, and the perimeter rules alarm on real targets rather than weather.
A built-in gyroscope steadies the long zoom, and 300 presets with patrol and pattern scans automate a tour of fixed views around the site.
The 360-degree endless pan covers every direction from the mount.
