§ 01Overview

What the DS-2CE78U7T-IT3F is

The Hikvision DS-2CE78U7T-IT3F is an 8 MP (4K) Turbo HD outdoor turret camera that upgrades an analogue CCTV system to 4K over existing coax - no network cabling needed.

It records 3840 x 2160 and switches between four signal types (TVI/AHD/CVI/CVBS), so it works with almost any HD or legacy analogue recorder that supports 8 MP TVI.

Lens: fixed 2.8 mm (approx.

102 degrees wide view).

Night vision: EXIR 2.0 infrared to 60 m (black and white at night).

Frame rate: full 8 MP runs at 12.5/15 fps over coax; drop to 4-5 MP for 25-30 fps.

Built for Australian outdoor use with an IP67 metal housing rated -40C to 60C, 130 dB true WDR and a 0.003 lux ultra-low-light sensor.

Powered by 12 V DC (no Power-over-Coax).

3-year Australian warranty.

What the DS-2CE78U7T-IT3F features actually look like

Representative illustrations of how each key feature performs in a real scene.

8MP Ultra HD

8MP (4K) resolution captures four times the detail of 1080p.
Even when a person or car is far down the driveway, you can zoom in and still recognise a face or read a number plate — detail that lower-resolution cameras lose.

60m IR Night Vision

Built-in infrared sees in total darkness up to around 60m, covering long driveways and large properties. Even well away from the house, people and vehicles remain clear in black-and-white.

IP67 Weatherproof

Sealed against dust and water to IP67, built to keep working through rain, storms and harsh sun — suitable for fully outdoor mounting.

§ 02Engineering

DS-2CE78U7T-IT3F specifications

- True 8 MP / 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) over coax: far more detail than 2 MP or 5 MP analogue, on your existing cabling.
- 4-in-1 switchable output: TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS to suit an 8 MP-capable HD recorder or a legacy analogue DVR.
- EXIR 2.0 smart IR to 60 m: even night illumination with less over-exposure of close objects (footage is black and white at night).
- 130 dB true WDR and a 0.003 lux sensor: usable images in harsh backlight and very low light.
- Frame rate note: full 8 MP records at 12.5-15 fps over coax; set 4-5 MP for 25-30 fps if you want smoother motion.
- Fixed 2.8 mm lens (about 102 degrees) for wide driveway, yard or shopfront coverage.
- IP67 metal-bodied turret rated -40C to 60C; 12 V DC powered (not powered over coax).

Installation Requirements

1. Power: a 12 V DC supply - this model is not powered over coax. 2. Cabling: one coax run (BNC) to your DVR; you can reuse existing RG59 from older analogue cameras. 3. Recorder: for full 8 MP use an 8 MP-capable HD-TVI / AHD / CVI DVR; set the camera to CVBS for a legacy analogue recorder. 4. Mounting: solid wall or eave; the turret tilts on its base to aim. No IK vandal rating, so mount it out of easy reach in exposed spots.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-2CE78U7T-IT3F

Q.01

Will my existing DVR record its full 8 MP?

It outputs a switchable 4-in-1 signal, but to record the full 8 MP you need an 8 MP-capable HD-TVI / AHD / CVI DVR. On an older recorder it still works at a lower resolution or in CVBS, so check your DVR lists 8 MP / 4K TVI support.
Q.02

Does it need a power supply, or can it run over the coax?

This is a 12 V DC camera with no Power-over-Coax. Run a separate 12 V DC supply (a local plug-pack or a central CCTV power box); the coax carries video only.
Q.03

Why is 8 MP listed at only 12.5-15 fps?

Full 8 MP over coax runs at 12.5/15 fps on this model, which suits general surveillance. For smoother motion you can set it to 4 or 5 MP and get 25-30 fps.
Q.04

Can it see in colour at night?

No. Night vision is EXIR infrared to 60 m, so after dark footage is black and white. For 24/7 colour you would need a ColorVu white-light model.
Q.05

Does it record sound?

No. There is no built-in microphone or audio input on this model, so it captures video only.
Q.06

Can I reuse my old analogue camera cabling?

Yes for the video. It runs over standard coax with a BNC connector, so you can reuse existing RG59 when upgrading. You will still need to provide 12 V DC power.
Q.07

Is it OK to mount outside, under an eave?

It is IP67 dust- and water-resistant and rated -40C to 60C, so it suits exposed Aussie eaves and walls. It has no IK vandal rating, so mount it out of easy reach in higher-risk spots.
Q.08

What area does the 2.8 mm lens cover?

The fixed 2.8 mm lens gives about a 102 degree wide view, suited to driveways, front yards, patios and shopfronts where one camera should cover a broad area.
Q.09

Should I get this 8 MP camera or the 5 MP DS-2CE78H8T-IT3F?

Choose this 8 MP version for the most 4K detail and a slightly wider view, accepting 12.5-15 fps at full resolution and the need for an 8 MP-capable DVR. The 5 MP DS-2CE78H8T-IT3F costs less, records 20 fps at full resolution and uses less storage if 4K is not essential. Both are the same turret with 60 m EXIR, 130 dB WDR and IP67.

§ 09Bundles

Recommended packages

01

Add a recorder

To record full 8 MP you need an 8 MP-capable Turbo HD DVR such as the iDS-7208HTHI-M2/S.

02

Want a lower-cost option?

The 5 MP DS-2CE78H8T-IT3F is the same Turbo HD turret at 5 MP - lower cost and 20 fps at full resolution.

03

How will you power it?

It runs on 12 V DC and is not powered over coax, so add a plug-pack or a multi-camera CCTV power supply to your order.
