§ 01Overview

What the DHI-NVR608H-32-AI/ANZ is

The Dahua DHI-NVR608H-32-AI/ANZ is a 32-channel 2U WizMind network video recorder for large and mission-critical installations.

It records cameras up to 32MP with high bandwidth (up to 1024 Mbps incoming and recording, 800 Mbps outgoing with AI off), and a drawer-style chassis holds eight hot-swappable SATA HDD bays so you can replace a drive without shutting the recorder down.

It supports RAID 0/1/5/6/10 and N+M cluster, which protect recordings against a drive failure, a key requirement for sites that cannot afford to lose footage.

This is a WizMind recorder, so its on-recorder AI is extensive: face detection and recognition, video metadata (people, motor and non-motor vehicles), perimeter protection on up to 24 channels and SMD Plus on all 32 channels, with ANPR and people counting available from capable cameras.

Quad HDMI and dual VGA outputs drive multiple 4K monitors for a control room, and it accepts third-party ONVIF cameras alongside Dahua, managed through the free DMSS app or the DSS platform.

Importantly, this recorder does not have built-in PoE ports.

Cameras connect through your network via an external PoE switch, which is normal for a recorder of this channel count: you size the switch and its power budget to the cameras.

A hard drive is not included, so fit surveillance-grade drives sized for 32 channels and your retention target.

The 608R variant adds a redundant power supply; this 608H model uses a single power supply.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DHI-NVR608H-32-AI/ANZ

Built for large systems

Thirty-two channels up to 32MP with up to 1024 Mbps bandwidth handle a big, high-resolution camera count on one recorder.

Resilient RAID storage

Eight hot-swap bays with RAID 0/1/5/6/10 keep recording through a drive failure, and drives swap without downtime.

Extensive on-recorder AI

WizMind AI runs face, metadata, 24-channel perimeter and 32-channel SMD Plus, scaling intelligence across the whole system.

Control-room ready

Quad HDMI and dual VGA 4K output drive multiple monitors for a staffed monitoring position on a large site.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Large commercial and industrial sites

Records up to 32 high-resolution cameras across a factory, logistics or campus site, with RAID protecting critical footage.

Government and public buildings

Suits councils, transport and public facilities needing many channels, on-recorder AI and resilient storage.

Multi-building estates

Cameras across several buildings feed one recorder via distributed PoE switches, managed centrally with RAID redundancy.

Control-room monitoring

Multi-monitor 4K output supports a staffed security desk watching live feeds while RAID recording runs continuously.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

Rack-mount the 2U chassis

Install the recorder in a comms rack with proper airflow and access to the front drawer for hot-swap drive servicing.

02

Provide an external PoE switch

This recorder has no built-in PoE, so connect cameras through one or more PoE switches sized to your camera count and power budget.

03

Fit drives and set up RAID

Fit surveillance-grade SATA drives across the eight bays (drives not included), then configure the RAID level that balances capacity and redundancy for your site.

04

Configure AI and platform access

Connect to your network, add the recorder to DMSS or the DSS platform, then enable face, perimeter and SMD Plus analytics on the channels that need them.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DHI-NVR608H-32-AI/ANZ

Q.01

Does this recorder have built-in PoE ports?

No. The NVR608H-32 does not have built-in PoE. Cameras connect over your network through an external PoE switch, which is standard for a 32-channel recorder. You size the switch and its power budget to your cameras, which also gives you flexibility to place switches close to camera clusters across a large site.
Q.02

Is a hard drive included?

No. It is supplied without drives so you can configure storage for your system. It has eight hot-swappable SATA bays taking up to 16TB each, and for 32 channels you will typically fit several surveillance-grade drives. With RAID you can trade some capacity for redundancy so a single drive failure does not lose footage.
Q.03

What RAID levels does it support?

It supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10, plus N+M cluster across units. RAID 5 or 6 is common for surveillance because it keeps recording through a drive failure while using storage efficiently. The hot-swap bays let you replace a failed drive and rebuild the array without taking the recorder offline.
Q.04

What is the difference between the 608H and 608R?

The main difference is power supply redundancy: the 608R models include a redundant (dual) power supply for higher availability, while this 608H model uses a single power supply. Both share the 2U chassis, eight hot-swap bays and RAID support. Choose the 608R where a power-supply failure cannot be allowed to stop recording.
Q.05

What AI does it run on the recorder?

As a WizMind recorder it runs extensive on-recorder AI: face detection and recognition, video metadata for people and vehicles, perimeter protection on up to 24 channels and SMD Plus on all 32 channels. ANPR, people counting and other analytics are available from capable cameras, so the system scales its intelligence with the cameras you choose.
Q.06

How many monitors can it drive?

It has four HDMI and two VGA outputs and supports 4K display, so it can drive multiple monitors in a control room, showing different camera groups on each screen. This suits a staffed monitoring position for a large site where one screen is not enough to watch all 32 channels.
Q.07

Can it work with non-Dahua cameras?

Yes. It supports ONVIF (Profile S, T and G) and major third-party brands as well as Dahua. Recording works across brands; on-recorder and camera AI features are strongest with Dahua WizMind cameras, so a mixed system records reliably while advanced analytics favour matched Dahua models.
Q.08

Is this suitable for a home system?

It is an enterprise-class recorder aimed at large commercial, government and multi-building sites that need 32 channels, RAID storage and control-room output. For a home or small business an 8 or 16-channel WizSense recorder with built-in PoE is simpler and more cost-effective; this model is overkill for a handful of cameras.
