§ 01Overview

What the CM910 is

The Bosch CM910 does two installer jobs with one lead. In Direct Link mode it carries a Solution Link RAS session, so a panel is programmed from a laptop on site instead of key by key at the code pad. In Flash Update mode it loads new control panel firmware. A switch on the module selects the mode, and the 5 metre USB cable reaches a panel mounted in a roof space or the back of a cupboard.

It is sold as the CM910, and the Bosch datasheet names the same module the CM910B. It supports the Solution 16i, Solution 16Plus, Solution 64, Solution 144 and Solution 6000, and the same panels plus the CM705B universal expander can be firmware updated through it. The module takes its power from the computer's USB port, so nothing else is wired in.

Software is where installers get stuck. The USB driver sits in the CM903 USB to Serial Converter Driver folder on the Solution Link RAS DVD, or downloads from alarmsoftware.com.au, and the flash update program only works on COM ports 1 to 4, so the port assigned in Windows Device Manager may need to be changed before flashing starts.

Two cautions apply on a Solution 6000. A firmware update may perform a complete system default at the end of the process, so the panel is backed up in Solution Link first, and firmware V2.53.19 only suits panels with serial numbers larger than 240000; a lower-numbered board will not run it.

The cable does not reset a lost installer code. That job belongs to the single-use CM255B default key, which unlocks both the installer PIN and the RAS security PIN on a Solution 6000. The programmer is rated for 0 to 55 °C and carries a 3 years return-to-base warranty from the date of manufacture.

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the CM910

Q.01

What is the Bosch CM910 for?

The Bosch CM910 connects a Windows PC to the 10 way serial header on a Solution panel so an installer can run an on-site Solution Link RAS session or update the panel firmware through one USB cable.
Q.02

Which panels does it support?

The Solution 16i, Solution 16Plus, Solution 64, Solution 144 and Solution 6000. The same panels and the CM705B universal expander can be firmware updated with it.
Q.03

Is it the CM910 or the CM910B?

The same module. It is sold as the CM910, and the Bosch datasheet names the combined Direct Link and Flash Programmer the CM910B.
Q.04

How do I switch between programming and flashing?

With the select switch on the module, which changes between Direct Link and Flash Update Programming Mode.
Q.05

Do I need a driver?

Yes. It is in the CM903 USB to Serial Converter Driver folder on the Solution Link RAS DVD, or it can be downloaded from alarmsoftware.com.au.
Q.06

Why will the flash program not see the cable?

The flash update program only works on COM ports 1 to 4. Check the port Windows has given the cable and change it to one in that range.
Q.07

Can flashing wipe the panel?

It may. A firmware update can perform a complete system default at the end of the process, so back the panel up with Solution Link before starting.
Q.08

Which Solution 6000 panels can take firmware V2.53.19?

Only panels with serial numbers larger than 240000. A lower-numbered board will not run it.
Q.09

Does it reset a lost installer code?

No. The single-use CM255B default key unlocks both the installer PIN and the RAS security PIN on a Solution 6000; the default installer PIN is 1234.
