About Hikvision 8MP Bullet Cameras

Hikvision 8MP 4K bullet cameras combine 3840×2160 evidence-grade resolution with AcuSense AI human and vehicle classification, 60m IR night vision, and IP67 outdoor weatherproofing. The flagship DS-2CD2T86G2 series is the most popular Hikvision 4K bullet for Australian residential driveways and fence-line perimeter. ColorVu (-LSU/SL) variants add full-colour night vision down to 0.0005 lux; motorised varifocal (-Z) variants add remote zoom adjustment from 2.7-13.5mm.

Best applications: long driveways requiring licence plate capture at distance, fence-line perimeter with extended IR coverage, commercial entry points needing evidence-grade detail. For shorter ranges or under-eave residential mounting, Hikvision 8MP turret cameras are typically a better fit. For 6MP cost-economy at the same form factor, see Hikvision 6MP bullets. Comparing Hikvision 8MP Bullet Cameras Models

Hikvision 8MP Bullet vs 6MP Bullet vs 8MP Turret

vs Hikvision 6MP bullets: 8MP captures 33% more pixels at the same IR range. Choose 8MP for driveways and licence plate capture; 6MP for general fence-line perimeter at lower storage cost.

vs Hikvision 8MP turrets: same resolution; bullets have larger IR arrays (60m vs 30m typical) and visible deterrent profile. Choose bullet for outdoor perimeter at 20m+, turret for under-eave residential at shorter ranges.

Cross-brand: Dahua 8MP bullets offer TiOC active deterrence variants Hikvision does not match — choose Dahua HFW3849T1-AS-PV if siren + strobe matters at 4K bullet.

Why Choose Hikvision 8MP Bullet Cameras?

4K Detail at 60m IR Range
The DS-2CD2T86G2 series combines 3840×2160 resolution with 60-metre IR illumination — capturing licence plate detail at typical residential driveway distances and clear faces at fence-line ranges in night-time conditions.

ColorVu Available at 8MP
-LSU/SL ColorVu variants add F1.0 super-aperture lens and warm white LED for full-colour night vision down to 0.0005 lux. Useful where night-time clothing colour and vehicle paint identification matters more than IR-only black-and-white.

Motorised Varifocal -Z Variants
DS-2CD2H86G2 and similar -Z variants offer 2.7-13.5mm remote zoom adjustment from Hik-Connect or NVR. Ideal when the optimal field of view is uncertain at install or driveway lengths vary.

Common Questions about Hikvision 8MP Bullet Cameras

Which Hikvision 8MP bullet is best for a driveway?

The DS-2CD2T86G2-2I (8MP AcuSense bullet, 60m IR, fixed lens) is the typical residential driveway pick — captures licence plate detail at standard Australian driveway distances. For driveways with variable lengths or where remote zoom adjustment matters, choose the DS-2CD2H86G2-IZS (motorised varifocal). For night-time full-colour identification, choose the -LSU/SL ColorVu variant.

What is the difference between -I, -Z and -LSU/SL Hikvision 8MP bullet variants?

-I = base 8MP AcuSense bullet with fixed lens. -Z (zoom) = motorised varifocal lens for remote field-of-view adjustment. -LSU/SL = ColorVu with white LED for full-colour night vision down to 0.0005 lux. Choose -I for standard fixed perimeter, -Z for adjustable focal length, -LSU/SL for night-time colour identification.

Is 4K worth the storage trade-off for bullet cameras?

For driveways and front-door positions where licence plate or facial ID at distance matters, yes — 4K provides detail that 6MP misses at 15m+ ranges. For general fence-line perimeter where target presence matters more than identification, 6MP is sufficient and stores 33% more days on the same HDD.

Before you buy

What customers ask most before ordering from this range — and how we deliver.

See all FAQs →

Will these cameras work with my existing NVR?

Most of our Hikvision and Dahua cameras support ONVIF, so they'll work with many third-party NVRs for basic recording. However, AI features like AcuSense, WizSense and active deterrence only work fully when the camera and NVR are the same brand. If you're adding to an existing system, email us the NVR model and we'll confirm compatibility before you buy.

Can I mix different cameras on one NVR, or add more later?

Yes. You can mix 6MP and 8MP, or ColorVu and AcuSense, on the same NVR as long as the total bandwidth stays within the NVR's rating (we check this for every kit we sell). To add cameras later, just plug them into a spare PoE port on the NVR — no reconfiguration needed. This is why we suggest an 8-channel NVR even if you start with 4 cameras.

How long does delivery take?

Order before 2pm (Sydney time) on a business day and in-stock items are dispatched the same day. Most orders arrive within 1–4 business days Australia-wide; remote and regional areas can take a little longer. You'll receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order leaves the warehouse.

How much is shipping?

Standard shipping is free on all orders over $300 AUD, Australia-wide. Orders under $300 ship at a flat rate of $25, calculated at checkout. Tracking is included on every order.

What warranty do you offer?

All cameras, NVRs and DVRs come with a 3-year back-to-base manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Hard drives and accessories are covered as set out in our Warranty Policy.

What is your return policy?

You have 30 days from the day you receive your order to request a change-of-mind return. Items must be unopened, factory-sealed and in resalable condition. A 15% restocking fee applies and return postage is at your cost. Faulty or incorrectly supplied items are different: we cover the return shipping and refund or replace at no charge. Read the full Return & Refund Policy.

Is your Hikvision, Dahua, HiLook and TP-Link VIGI stock genuine Australian stock?

Yes, 100%. Every Hikvision, Dahua, HiLook and TP-Link VIGI product we sell is a genuine Australian-market model sourced through Australian supply chains — never grey imports. That means factory-sealed units, Australian-region firmware that works with the official apps out of the box, and a full 3-year local warranty.
