§ 01Overview

What the DS-96128-i16/H is

The Hikvision DS-96128NI-I16 is a 128-channel enterprise network video recorder with sixteen drive bays and dual redundant power, made for large-scale Australian sites such as airports, shopping centres and extensive commercial estates.

It connects up to 128 IP cameras with 576 Mbps of incoming bandwidth, records resolutions up to 12MP, and protects footage across sixteen hot-swap SATA bays running RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 or 10.

Dual 4K HDMI outputs plus VGA drive a multi-screen control room, and four Gigabit network ports (with optional fibre) handle high-throughput traffic.

This is a back-end recorder with no built-in PoE, so cameras are powered from separate switches, and it is supplied without hard drives.

Smart detection is supported through camera-side VCA rather than recorder-side AcuSense.

For a current 8K AcuSense platform, see the DS-96128NXI-S16R.

FeatureDetail

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-96128-i16/H

Built for 128 cameras

One recorder centralises a very large camera fleet for an airport, mall or estate, replacing several smaller NVRs.

RAID data protection

Sixteen hot-swap bays run RAID 5 or 6 so a single drive failure will not lose footage, and drives can be replaced without powering down.

Redundant power

Dual power supplies keep recording continuous if one supply or circuit fails, which matters on mission-critical sites.

Plan your upgrade path

This is the established I-series RAID recorder; if you want recorder-side AcuSense and 8K, we also stock the newer DS-96128NXI-S16R on the same scale.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Airports and transport hubs

Centralise terminal, apron and platform cameras with RAID-protected, redundant recording.

Shopping centres and malls

Manage multiple floors and retail zones from one rack-mounted recorder.

Large commercial estates

Oversee buildings, car parks and perimeters across a big site from a single control room.

Critical infrastructure

Utilities and high-security facilities where RAID and dual power protect continuous footage.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

In the box

DS-96128NI-I16 recorder, power cables, mouse and rack-mount hardware. Hard drives are not included.

02

Storage and RAID

Fit up to sixteen surveillance or enterprise SATA drives (up to 10TB each), then configure RAID 0/1/5/6/10. Drives are hot-swappable for maintenance.

03

Powering cameras

This recorder has no built-in PoE. Power all cameras from separate switches sized to a 128-camera system, then add them over the four Gigabit ports.

04

Power and mounting

Connect the redundant power supplies to separate circuits where possible, and install in a 3U rack with strong front-to-rear airflow.

§ 07Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-96128-i16/H

Q.01

Does the DS-96128NI-I16 come with hard drives?

No. It is supplied without hard drives. It has sixteen hot-swap SATA bays accepting up to 10TB per drive.
Q.02

How many cameras can it record?

Up to 128 IP cameras, with 576 Mbps of incoming bandwidth and recording up to 12MP.
Q.03

Does it have built-in PoE?

RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 across the sixteen hot-swap bays, so a drive failure need not lose footage.
Q.05

Does it have redundant power?

Yes. It has dual redundant power supplies, so recording continues if one supply fails.
Q.06

Does the recorder do AcuSense detection itself?

No. This I-series recorder supports camera-side VCA rather than recorder-side AcuSense. For recorder-side AcuSense and 8K, see the DS-96128NXI-S16R.
Q.07

How many monitors can it drive?

It has dual 4K HDMI outputs plus a VGA output and can decode up to 20 channels at 1080p for a multi-screen control room.
