§ 01Overview

What the DS-7616NI-M2/16P is

The Hikvision DS-7616NI-M2/16P is a 16-channel M-Series recorder that comes ready to use with a 4TB surveillance hard drive fitted. Its sixteen built-in PoE ports power and connect up to sixteen IP cameras over a single network cable each, so a full sixteen-camera system runs from one 1U unit without a separate switch, and it records cameras at resolutions up to 32MP with 256 Mbps of incoming bandwidth.

It carries Australian AcuSense firmware, so paired with Hikvision AcuSense cameras it classifies movement as a person or vehicle and filters out irrelevant motion such as wind-blown trees, rain and shadows. It records efficiently with Smart H.265+, outputs 8K over HDMI alongside a 1080p VGA feed, and works with the current generation of AcuSense, ColorVu and TandemVu cameras.

Storage comes included: the 4TB drive gives a solid base for a sixteen-camera system, and a second SATA bay is free so you can add another drive as retention needs grow. The sixteen PoE ports share up to 200 W in total, which suits typical Hikvision cameras; if every camera is a high-draw dual-light or motorised model running its light at night, spread the load or use a separate injector for the heaviest. It is genuine Australian Hikvision stock with local warranty and support, viewed remotely on the free Hik-Connect app.

§ 04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the DS-7616NI-M2/16P

Records out of the box

A 4TB surveillance drive is already fitted, so a sixteen-camera system starts recording with nothing extra to buy or install.

Sixteen cameras built in

Sixteen PoE ports power and connect a full camera set over single cables, so the system runs from one 1U unit with no separate switch.

AcuSense smart alerts

Australian AcuSense firmware filters motion to people and vehicles with AcuSense cameras, cutting false alerts and speeding up footage searches.

Room to grow

Records up to 32MP and has a free second SATA bay, so it keeps up as you add higher-resolution cameras or more storage.

§ 05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Medium business systems

Run up to sixteen cameras across entries, floors, car parks and stock areas without adding a network switch.

Larger homes and acreage

Cover the house, sheds, gates and yard with up to sixteen cameras on one recorder, recording from day one.

Sites using AcuSense

Pair with AcuSense cameras for people-and-vehicle filtering across the whole system.

Staged rollouts

Start with a handful of cameras and grow to sixteen channels, adding a second drive as retention needs increase.

§ 06Setup

Installation & setup

01

What's in the box

One DS-7616NI-M2/16P recorder with a 4TB surveillance hard drive fitted, power adaptor and mouse. Cameras, network cable and a monitor are not included.

02

Installation requirements

Run Cat5e or Cat6 from the sixteen PoE ports to each camera (within about 100 m), connect the NVR to a monitor by HDMI and to your router for remote access, then add it to Hik-Connect. The 4TB drive is pre-fitted; add a second SATA drive if you want more storage. For high-draw cameras, check the 200 W PoE budget and use a separate injector where needed.

§ 08Questions

Frequently asked about the DS-7616NI-M2/16P

Q.01

Does the DS-7616NI-M2/16P come with a hard drive?

Yes. It is supplied with a 4TB surveillance-grade hard drive already fitted, so it records out of the box. It has two SATA bays, so the second bay is free if you want to add more storage later.
Q.02

How many cameras can it run and how are they powered?

It is a 16-channel recorder with sixteen built-in PoE ports, so it powers and connects up to sixteen IP cameras directly over one network cable each, with no separate switch needed.
Q.03

Will the 200 W PoE budget power sixteen cameras?

The 200 W total is shared across all sixteen ports. That suits typical Hikvision cameras at around 5 to 12 W each. It can be tight if every camera is a high-draw dual-light or motorised model running its light at night, so spread the load or power the heaviest cameras from a separate injector.
Q.04

What resolution does it record and display?

It records IP cameras up to 32MP and outputs to a monitor at up to 8K over HDMI, with a simultaneous 1080p VGA output for a second screen.
Q.05

Does it do people and vehicle detection?

Yes. It carries Australian AcuSense firmware, so with Hikvision AcuSense cameras it classifies movement as a person or vehicle, filtering nuisance alerts and letting you search recordings by people or vehicles.
Q.06

How long will 4TB record for?

It depends on the camera count, resolution, frame rate and whether you record continuously or on motion. With Smart H.265+ and motion recording, 4TB typically holds a couple of weeks from sixteen cameras; continuous high-resolution recording is shorter. Add a second drive to extend it.
Q.07

Can I view it on my phone?

Yes. Connect the NVR to your router and add it to the free Hik-Connect app to watch live and play back recordings from a phone or tablet, at home or away.
Q.08

Is this an M-Series or Ultra Series recorder?

It is an M-Series recorder. It is supplied as genuine Australian Hikvision stock with Australian AcuSense firmware, local warranty and support.
