This Hikvision 8 MP 8-channel kit is a six-camera system built for larger homes and businesses, supplied ready to record. It combines six DS-2CD2T86G2-2I AcuSense bullet cameras with an eight-channel Hikvision PoE NVR and a 4 TB surveillance hard drive already fitted. Each camera runs on a single network cable to a built-in PoE port, and because the recorder has eight channels there are two spare for adding more cameras later.

The cameras suit longer outdoor runs. Each is an 8 MP (4K) bullet with AcuSense deep learning that classifies human and vehicle targets, so alerts and searches focus on people and vehicles instead of rain, shadows or animals. A 50 metre EXIR infrared range, longer than most turret cameras, reaches well down driveways, fences and car parks at night, and 120 dB wide dynamic range holds detail against bright backlight. These are -2I cameras, which keep the kit focused on high-quality video and AI detection; they do not include a built-in microphone, so the system records video without audio.

A few honest notes so it is set up correctly. The cameras use Powered-by-DarkFighter low-light imaging for clean detail in the dark, but the night image is infrared black and white, not full colour, so this is not a ColorVu kit. The eight-channel recorder is an 8K-capable Hikvision M-series NVR with eight plug-and-play PoE ports, two HDD bays and H.265+ compression; the 4 TB drive is included as standard for generous everyday retention, and you can fit a larger drive for longer storage. With six cameras on an eight-channel recorder, there is straightforward room to grow.

Cabling

Run one network cable from each camera to a PoE port on the NVR. Standard Ethernet runs apply, and a PoE switch can extend reach for distant cameras.

Fix each bullet high on a wall or pole aimed along the run you want covered, within the 50 metre infrared range, using the sun shield against glare and rain.

Is the kit ready to record out of the box?

Bullet cameras suit longer outdoor runs such as driveways, fences and car parks, and the 50 metre EXIR infrared on these cameras reaches further at night than a typical turret. That makes the kit a good fit for larger properties where cameras look down long approaches.

Do the cameras record audio?
No. The DS-2CD2T86G2-2I cameras do not have a built-in microphone, so the kit records video without audio. If you need sound you would choose camera models that include a built-in microphone.

Do they give colour video at night?
Not at night. They use Powered-by-DarkFighter low-light imaging for clean detail in dark conditions, but the night image is infrared black and white. For full-colour night images you would choose a ColorVu kit with white-light cameras.

Can I add more cameras?
Yes. The recorder is an eight-channel NVR and the kit uses six channels, so there are two spare PoE ports and channels for additional cameras. Beyond eight cameras you would move to a larger recorder and add a PoE switch.

How much will the 4 TB drive store?
The included 4 TB surveillance drive gives generous everyday retention for six 8 MP cameras, helped by H.265+ compression. Exact days depend on motion, frame rate and quality, and the recorder's two drive bays let you fit a larger or second drive for longer retention.

Yes. The bullet cameras are IP67 rated against dust and water in a metal body with an integrated sun shield, so they handle sun, rain and dust on exposed walls and poles, with 50 metre infrared for night coverage.
