01Overview

What the HAN-QND-8020R is

The Hanwha HAN-QND-8020R is a versatile 5MP indoor dome camera designed for high-resolution surveillance in commercial and retail environments across Australia. It features a 4.0mm fixed lens that captures a broad 80° horizontal field of view, making it ideal for monitoring open spaces, lobbies, and corridors.

Equipped with 120dB Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), this camera excels in areas with complex lighting, such as storefronts with bright natural light and darker interiors. The integration of WiseStream II technology with H.265 compression significantly optimises bandwidth and storage efficiency. Additionally, the camera includes built-in IR LEDs providing up to 20m (65.62ft) of night vision in complete darkness, alongside intelligent analytics like defocus detection and virtual area monitoring to proactively manage security events.

04Why choose this

Built for the way you actually use the HAN-QND-8020R

High-Definition 5MP Clarity

Delivering up to 2592x1944 resolution at 30fps, this camera captures fine details across retail floors and reception areas, ensuring critical events are recorded clearly.

Advanced 120dB WDR

The 120dB Wide Dynamic Range ensures balanced exposures in environments with stark lighting contrasts. It prevents subjects from becoming dark silhouettes when standing in front of brightly lit windows or glass doors.

Bandwidth-Saving WiseStream II

Hanwha's proprietary WiseStream II dynamically adjusts encoding based on motion in the scene. When combined with H.265 compression, it drastically reduces network bandwidth and NVR storage requirements.

Tailored Corridor Coverage

Hallway view mode allows the video to be vertically rotated (90°/270°), changing the aspect ratio to focus down narrow aisles or passages, eliminating wasted horizontal space recording blank walls.

05Where it fits

Right at home in these scenarios

Retail Shop Floors

The 4.0mm fixed lens and 5MP resolution offer broad, highly detailed coverage of sales floors. The 120dB WDR ensures clear visibility even near large, sunlit display windows where contrast is harsh.

Bank & Office Lobbies

A discreet indoor dome profile fits seamlessly into professional environments. Analytics like tampering and virtual line crossing provide automated alerts for restricted zones behind teller counters or reception desks.

Narrow Hallways & Storage Aisles

Using the hallway view feature, the camera optimises its field of view for long, narrow spaces, making it perfect for office corridors or warehouse shelving aisles where traditional widescreen formats are inefficient.

08Questions

Frequently asked about the HAN-QND-8020R

Q.01

How well does this camera perform in low light?
The QND-8020R uses a 1/2.8" CMOS sensor that provides a minimum colour illumination of 0.15 Lux. In extremely dark environments, it relies on its built-in IR LEDs to provide clear black-and-white night vision up to 20m (65.62ft).
Q.02

Will this camera handle glare from a glass entrance door?
Yes, the camera features 120dB Wide Dynamic Range (WDR). This technology balances the exposure, preventing subjects from appearing completely dark against a bright background, making it ideal for indoor areas facing sunlit windows.
Q.03

Does changing the settings interrupt the live feed?
Yes. As noted in the manufacturer's operational guidelines, applying any changes to the camera or network configurations will cause connected viewers to temporarily disconnect while the new settings are applied.
Q.04

Can this camera be installed outdoors?
No, the QND-8020R is an indoor dome camera designed for operating environments between -10°C and +55°C. It lacks the IP and IK ratings required for exposed or vandal-prone outdoor installations.
Q.05

Is there a known issue with accessing the camera via Chrome?
Early firmware versions experienced an HTTPS behavioural error in Chrome version 80. Ensuring your camera's firmware is updated to version 1.41.01 or newer resolves this compatibility issue and maintains a secure connection.
Q.06

What is the benefit of the hallway view mode?
Hallway view rotates the video output to a 90° or 270° orientation. This is extremely beneficial for monitoring long, narrow corridors or retail aisles, as it captures the length of the passage rather than wasting resolution on adjacent walls.
Q.07

Can the camera record directly without an NVR?
Yes, it features a Micro SD/SDHC/SDXC memory slot that supports cards up to 128GB. You can configure it to record locally triggered by events like motion detection, tampering, or defocus detection.
