The Hanwha QNO-8080R is a 5MP outdoor bullet camera from the Wisenet Q Series, built around a 1/2.8" CMOS sensor paired with a 3.2 to 10 millimetre motorized varifocal lens offering 3.1x optical zoom.

Focus and zoom are adjustable remotely over the network, letting installers fine-tune the field of view after the unit is already mounted and cabled.

The lens spans a horizontal field of view from 101° down to 31°, giving flexibility between wide coverage and a tighter, longer-reach frame from the same housing.

A 120-decibel wide dynamic range keeps bright and shaded zones both visible in the same shot, useful at covered entrances and gateway crossings.

Built-in 850nm IR illumination reaches 30 metres for usable coverage after dark, and the aluminium housing is rated IP66 against dust and water plus IK10 against impact, suiting exposed outdoor mounting points.

WiseStream II compression across H.265, H.264 and MJPEG keeps bandwidth and NVR storage load in check on multi-camera sites, while onboard analytics cover motion detection, tampering and defocus detection for ongoing system health monitoring.

I will not know the exact mounting distance until I am on site - does that matter for this camera?

Not as much as it would with a fixed-lens camera. Am I locked into Hanwha's own recorder, or can I use my existing NVR or VMS?

The QNO-8080R supports ONVIF Profile S, G and T alongside Hanwha's SUNAPI (HTTP API) and Wisenet Open Platform, which is the standard basis for third-party integration such as Blue Iris or a Home Assistant ONVIF module. We have not found QNO-8080R-specific reports confirming a particular third-party platform, so test ONVIF compatibility with your recorder before a large rollout, or pair it with a Hanwha Wisenet WAVE/SSM system for guaranteed full feature support.

I want to view MJPEG, H.264 and H.265 profiles from this camera at the same time across different systems - can I?

Only up to a point. The camera supports a maximum of 3 simultaneous streaming profiles; per Hanwha's own troubleshooting documentation, opening a fourth profile once three are already active (say MJPEG, H.264 and H.265) will drop one of the existing connections. Plan NVR/VMS channel assignments around that limit rather than discovering it mid-installation.

I am getting no image over the network - could it be a router setting rather than the camera?

Possibly. Hanwha's troubleshooting guide notes that if the camera's transmission method is set to multicast, the local network's router must explicitly support multicast or no image will appear - worth checking before assuming a hardware fault, or switching the camera back to unicast streaming.

Mainly for framing flexibility. Per Hanwha's combined service manual spec table, the QNO-8010R uses a fixed focal lens, while the QNO-8080R has a 3.2 to 10 millimetre motorized varifocal lens with 3.1x optical zoom that can be adjusted remotely without repositioning the camera. The trade-off is a somewhat higher PoE draw - the QNO-8080R's max is 9.50W (typical 7.30W) - so check your PoE switch or injector has the headroom before swapping models on an existing run.

Should I worry about network security vulnerabilities before putting this camera on my network?

Keep the firmware current and you are covered. Hanwha's advisories list two vulnerabilities that affected this camera's firmware family, CVE-2023-5038 and CVE-2023-5037, both disclosed in November 2023 and both resolved by updating to the latest firmware - a standard step worth confirming as part of commissioning rather than leaving factory firmware in place.

The built-in 850nm IR illuminator gives a viewable range of up to 30m, enough for a driveway or yard approach without extra site lighting.
