Why choose 6 MP over 8 MP?

6 MP gives a slightly higher frame rate and lower bandwidth. With the motorised zoom, you can get close-up detail without needing the extra pixels of 8 MP.

Is this a DeepinView camera?

It is in the 3-series (DS-2CD3xxx) which is Hikvision's pro line. It supports face capture, which the 2-series (DS-2CD2xxx) does not.

Does it stay in colour all night?

Yes. ColorVu 3.0 uses warm LEDs for 24/7 colour. There is no IR-only fallback on this model — it is always colour.

What is the zoom range in practice?

2.8 mm gives about 108° horizontal. 12 mm gives about 29°. You can set it anywhere in between.
